TapCue for Obsidian
Save links to Obsidian from your phone
Obsidian's Web Clipper is a browser extension. TapCue works from the Share button of any Android app, YouTube and TikTok included, and writes straight into your vault.
Set it up once
- In TapCue, add the destination Obsidian vault or Files folder and pick your vault's folder.
- For each reason, choose the note it writes to, like
TapCue/Watch later.md, and optionally a heading to write under. - Share a link and tap why. The line appears in the note, and Obsidian Sync or your folder sync carries it to your other devices.
A line in one note
By default each save adds a checklist line to the reason's note: the title in bold, the reason after it, the site and the link.
- [ ] **Kitchen knife sharpening video** to watch later · [youtube.com](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=…) #watch-later
Or a note of its own
Switch a reason to a note of its own and every save becomes a new file, from a template you can change. Placeholders include {headline}, {url}, {note}, {category}, {tagname} and {date}. Name the file .json to write JSON instead.
---
source: "{url}"
category: "{category}"
saved: {date}
tags: [{tagname}]

## Notes
The plugin (advanced)
Most people don't need it. Use the plugin only if your vault lives on a computer your phone can't reach. Any device running Obsidian with the plugin delivers your saves. It will be installable from Obsidian's community plugins; until then it installs by hand.
Download main.js · Download manifest.json
- In your vault, create the folder
.obsidian/plugins/tapcueand put both files in it. - In Obsidian, open Settings, Community plugins, and turn on TapCue. Turn off Restricted mode first if it is on.
- Open the TapCue plugin settings and enter the email you signed into TapCue with, then tap the link we send you.
- With Obsidian Sync, the plugin follows your vault to your other devices.
